Daniell Bap­tist Asso­ci­a­tion Church Lead­er­ship Institute

The pur­pose of this school is to train and encour­age folks in the ser­vice of Jesus Christ.
It is designed to be ben­e­fi­cial to Pas­tors, Staff, Sun­day School Lead­ers and Church Lead­ers in general.
All cours­es will be prac­ti­cal and will involve learn­ers in guid­ed prac­tice in each top­ic of study.

The Daniell Bap­tist Asso­ci­a­tion Bible Insti­tute and the Geor­gia Bap­tist Con­ven­tion is pleased to announce the fol­low­ing Con­tin­u­ing Edu­ca­tion Min­istry course for Spring 2012:

Bap­tist History

This course will be taught by Rev­erend Christo­pher Sheffield, Pas­tor of Smith Street Bap­tist Church in Vidalia. Rev­erend Sheffield holds a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence Degree in Bib­li­cal Stud­ies from Moody Bible Institute. 

This course will exam­ine crit­i­cal areas of devel­op­ment in South­ern Bap­tist iden­ti­ty: reli­gious lib­er­ty, sep­a­ra­tion between church and state, Amer­i­can Bap­tist con­fes­sion­al her­itage, dynam­ics of Bap­tist church gov­ern­ment, asso­ci­a­tion­al orga­ni­za­tion, and for­eign mis­sions issues.  We will look at the inspi­ra­tional con­tri­bu­tions of peo­ple like Lot­tie Moon, Ann Jud­son, A. H. Strong, and E.Y. Mullins in the growth of the South­ern Bap­tist Church. We will also dis­cuss the Coop­er­a­tive Pro­gram which sep­a­rates South­ern Bap­tists from all oth­er Bap­tists. This course will answer the ques­tion “What has it meant, his­tor­i­cal­ly, to be a South­ern Baptist?

The Geor­gia Bap­tist Con­ven­tion will issue 2 cred­it units upon com­ple­tion of this course and allow it to go toward a 30 cred­it unit (15 cours­es) require­ment for a Diplo­ma in Chris­t­ian Ministry.

Bap­tist His­to­ry is offered to every­one (cler­gy, non-cler­gy, men and women) and will be taught at the Daniell Bap­tist Asso­ci­a­tion office in Ailey. Class­es begin on March 27, 2012 and lasts for 10 weeks. This study occurs on Tues­day nights from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Â

The cost of the course is $45.00 plus the cost of the text book. The text­book is “Why I Am a Bap­tist” by Tom J. Net­tles and Rus­sell Moore ($10.23 Paperback).
Thomas J. Net­tles is Pro­fes­sor of His­tor­i­cal The­ol­o­gy at The South­ern Bap­tist The­o­log­i­cal Sem­i­nary, Louisville, Ken­tucky. Pur­chase the book on your own or ask DBA to pur­chase it for you. Text­books can be shared by couples.
