Dear DBA Part­ners,

I know you have heard of the dev­as­tat­ing floods and want to help. The Geor­gia Bap­tist Mis­sion Board is col­lect­ing Buck­ets of Care for the affect­ed areas, and we want­ed to give you the oppor­tu­ni­ty to par­tic­i­pate. 
In addi­tion to the items below please feel free to include a bible and/or gospel tract. 

DROP OFF: DBA office, we will trans­port to drop off loca­tion. Due by Octo­ber 16.

Attached is a copy of the home­own­er instruc­tions – Mud Out in a Minute to include in the buck­ets.

PS. All items MUST be put in 5 gal­lon buck­ets which are avail­able at Lowes, Handy Andy, Home Depot, and maybe Wal­mart. Remem­ber, all buck­ets must have a lid. Handy Andy’s has pre­pared buck­ets avail­able for $80. 

Buck­et of Care for Flood Vic­tims

Safe­ty Equip­ment 
6 pair – exam gloves (hypoal­ler­genic) 
2 pair – leather gloves 2 pair – safe­ty gog­gles 
4 – dust masks

1 – util­i­ty knife with extra blades
1 – chalk line with chalk 
6 – Teri cloth rags 
1 – flash­light and 6 bat­ter­ies 1 – 6′ or 12’ mea­sur­ing tape 
1 – twist noz­zle for a gar­den hose

First Aid 
1 – bot­tle Anti-Bac­te­r­i­al hand wash 
1 – bot­tle Hydro­gen per­ox­ide 
1 – bot­tle Alco­hol 
1 – antibi­ot­ic cream 

1 – box Band aides

Place all of the above into a 5-gal­lon buck­et along with a copy of the home­own­er instruc­tions– Mud Out in a Minute on top, and close with lid.

In addi­tion to the Buck­ets of Care, there is a great need for those who are will­ing to serve as Dis­as­ter Relief vol­un­teers. Accord­ing to GBMB,

“The num­ber of vol­un­teers has declined dras­ti­cal­ly since we have not been called out for sev­er­al years. Now with Hur­ri­cane Har­vey we need all the help we can get.” 

If you would like to serve as Dis­as­ter Relief vol­un­teer in Texas, ori­en­ta­tion (which is required for all vol­un­teers) will be at New Prov­i­dence Bap­tist Church, Forsyth, GA, on Sep­tem­ber 16, 2017. The reg­is­tra­tion dead­line is Sept. 8th. At this cre­den­tial­ing ses­sion, you will receive an intro­duc­tion to the over­all min­istry of Dis­as­ter Relief, 3 min­istry areas (Child Care, Cleanup & Recov­ery, and Feed­ing), and Evan­ge­lism Encour­age­ment.

The cost for Dis­as­ter Relief Ori­en­ta­tion is $40.

  • 7:30 – 9:00 AM   Reg­is­tra­tion/Check-in (Please arrive no lat­er than 8:15 AM)
  • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM   Train­ing

Depend­ing on how many peo­ple sign up, the DBA may pro­vide trans­porta­tion, so please let us know if you are going.
