Extreme Home Makeover by Journey Community Church
Our mission to impact 14 year old cancer survivor, Kortney Fike and her family by providing an EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER for large portions of their home and making it handicap accessible is COMPLETE! And it could not have been done without so many of you pitching in–some with long hours–and helping the project along.
To watch the face of this young girl and her mom when she saw her new bathroom, dining room, kitchen area, and a darling bedroom…there was not a dry eye anywhere to be found. In fact, I’m choked up right now!
There are several “God Stories” that I’ll tell later but I just wanted to say thanks to all who helped and gave. And I also want to issue a challenge to every other church in the country–Do This, if only once, Do This and BE the CHURCH!
I can hardly wait until we all meet together this Sunday. Kortney and her family will be there and we will see a video presentation of the work.
Journeying to BE the CHURCH together,
Jeff

“Ugandan Thunder”
Ugandan Thunder, a group of seven boys and six girls, ages 8-12, from Uganda, East Africa, will be appearing at Tabernacle Baptist Churchon Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. “Thunder” will sing some of your favorite hymns, African and American style, plus they will present music in their native Lugandan tongue. It will be a wonderful, high energy concert full of singing and dancing, along with some great percussion music from the African drums.
In addition to the musical presentations, the children will also share about growing up in a land that has been ravaged by a twenty-year war, poverty, AIDS, and malaria. You will see how their faith in God has changed their hopeless lives into lives with great meaning and purpose. Most of the children are orphans. As they share with the American youth about loving and honoring their parents, your entire family will be blessed.
The group “Ugandan Thunder” is sponsored by “Pennies for Posho”, a non-profit Christian organization that is committed to feeding the hungry children of Africa. All funds raised from the concert tour will be used for this express purpose.
It will be a worship service like no other, and one you will not want to miss. For reserved seating for your group, please call 912-537-4272.
